Landscape or House Portrait
This class features a variety of techniques: fusible appliqué;
selecting just the right fabrics; altering fabrics; and machine
quilting detail. Learn how to add shadows to give your landscape
more depth.

Take any
photo that you have of your favorite vacation spot, your yard,
garden, home, etc. and make it into a permanent quilted wall
portrait in any size you like. You will learn how to size your
portrait and how to choose fabrics and techniques for an
“artistic” approach or a “close to real” approach.
Class
demonstrates netting overlay, shadows, machine quilting,
embellishment, use of fabric pens, machine embroidery and fine
detailing to make this a one-of-a-kind piece of art. It is a
very adventurous and rewarding class with techniques to suit all
skill levels. Bring lots of fabric and scraps. Trading fabrics
in class is encouraged. Students should have access to a copy
machine within walking or driving distance.
This class can be
abbreviated to 1 day with preparation before class and no
machine work, but, instead, many examples of machine are
demonstrated. You will get a firm start and much information to
complete this on your own.
