Salsa Bowl Kaleidoscope 39″x 39″ ready to hang with sleeve
After many years of teaching quilting classes (since 1985) Pat has retired from teaching. Through these years, many class samples were created, some more involved than others. This is a pattern by Ricky Timms, “Kool Kaleidoscope” that features his strip piecing technique to create “strata” and how to choose stunning fabrics that result in a one of a kind quilt every time. This wonderful kaleidoscope effect with its repeating mirror image segments is simply stunning. This class was not for the faint of heart nor for the beginner. Many of my samples were tops only but this one was so intriguing that I just had to complete it with custom longarm quilting, faux piping and the fancy embroidered label.
When I stepped back to view it, I saw red slasa, green salad and corn chips in a festive gold and black bowl, all ready for a party! How much fun is that?!
Soooo…, the backing had to be a party too….
This quilt was awarded a Purple Ribbon, the highest honor for perfection, above a red ribbon, at the Narragansett Bay Quilter’s Guild show in 2008.
Rather than being rolled up in storage, this piece needs to be on a special wall, in someone’s home. office or place of business to be enjoyed. Will it be yours?
