This is a “Fabric Photo Quilt.” While visiting historic Del Morro fort in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, I was struck by the sight of the fort relics against the backdrop of the peaceful ocean. The stack of rusted cannonballs, the iron tracks used to position the cannons, the iron bars and the cannons themselves, all surrounded by a most vivid blue sky and ocean.
The photos, taken by Pat, are printed on fabric and the edges cut to look like actual older photos. The blue batik background reflects the blue ocean water and clear blue sky. The black corner fabric with its explosive print bring forth the cannons dark color and character.
