Winter in My Neighborhood 35.5″x 35.5″
After many years of teaching quilting classes (since 1985) Pat has retired from teaching. Through these years, many class samples were created, some more involved than others. Pat designed this quilt in 1998 as a technique sampler class for her students to learn 4 patches and triangles (the houses) , paper piecing (corner icicles) checkerboard border , accent border, fusible applique border. Each student could choose a theme for their houses, learning how to find just the right fabrics to interpret that theme. Here Pat chose vibrant fall. Each fabric being warm bright colors to represent the falling leaves and colors of the season in New England. Students also designed their personal fusible appliques for the outside border. Any left over fabrics were used to complete the backing into a separate work of art. Final classes included custom machine quilting, making this an advanced class. Labels were also addressed in this class.
Rather than being rolled up in storage, this piece needs to be on a special wall, in someone’s home, office or place of business to be enjoyed.
Will it be yours?
